Movies in the News

  • Director Paul Weitz's (American Pie, About a Boy) latest film, Little Fockers, enjoys the top spot in the box office this week, raking in nearly $26 million dollars despite harsh reviews.
  • Robert Rodriguez's action-exploitation flick Machete hits shelves today.  The film found its origins as a fake trailer in 2007's Rodriguez/Tarantino double feature Grindhouse.
  • The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise releases trailer for its newest chapter: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
  • James Franco in talks to direct literary classics As I Lay Dying (William Faulkner) and Blood Meridian (Cormac McCarthy).  "I want to be loyal to the book -- my approach is to always be loyal in a lot a ways -- but in order to be loyal I will have to change some things for the movie," the actor says.

  1. A fine post with a great dominant visual image. A few notes:

    - Your first link should have gone to the Rotten Tomatoes page reviewing True Grit, not just the Rotten Tomatoes site in general.

    - Two of your links went to Rotten Tomatoes and three of your links went to YouTube. Try varying up your sources and next time go ahead and pop one of those videos into the post.

    - In a news brief, link only to multimedia that helps tell the big news, not old stuff like "Grindhouse" that is really secondary to the bigger story.

    - I would have chopped down the Franco quote to get to the heart of it: "I want to be loyal to the book ... but in order to be loyal I will have to change some things for the movie." Done.
